parents prepare for this, even expect it, however I'm not sure Jim and
Pearl Sheehan (granny and grandad) expected their eldest, probably most
sensible, daughter to be the first. And even more unexpected, in pursuit
of the handsome German she met on a girls trip to Spain. How's
scandalous:)
Patsy Sheehan soon became Patsy Otto and began her life far from Ireland. To us Germany represented, family ties, strange food (sauerkraut), non alcoholic beers for kids, pristine gingerbread looking houses, Boris Becker and of course the hit song "Girl you know its true" - Milli Vanilli. Although very fond of our German connections, little did we know that 30+ years after Patsy left Ireland, we would be returning for life altering reasons.
Question. What do the following things have in common? Heat, Germany and Cancer.
Answer. The next stop on our journey towards conquering cancer naturally.
With our 'at home' fight plan well underway, we didn't want to take the foot off the pedal. After all, there was so much we had already learned so surely there was even more to be uncovered. Getting our hands on professional support was important to us, as I'm not sure the 'because my daughter said so' response was something any of us were entirely comfortable with. And so our search for an Alternative Clinic began. During our extensive discovery, both Niall and I had come across a treatment called Hyperthermia and we were compelled to learn more.
What is Hyperthermia?
Hyperthermia is a treatment whereby the body (entire or targeted cancerous area) is exposed to high temperatures. Research and real life studies have shown that high temperatures can damage and kill cancer cells, usually with minimal injury to normal tissues. The theory is that 'cancer cells are much more sensitive to and intolerant of the effects of excessive heat than normal cells. Also, tumours have an impaired ability to adapt their blood circulation to the effects of high temperatures and thus hyperthermia can cause a reduction of blood flow to a tumour. In addition, heat at this level pushes cancer cells toward acidosis (decreased cellular pH) which decreases the cells viability and ability to spread. It also activates the immune system, increasing immune surveillance'.

The 3rd book I came across was by a Dr. Morton Walker and when he referenced hyperthermia as the #1 treatment in his top 10 Natural Remedies we knew we were on the right track.
But we had to be sure, after all this was a serious matter and we didn't have all the time in the world. So the next reference was a book called German Cancer Breakthrough, by Andrew Scholberg. Not only did this book convince us that there were multiple, reputable clinics to choose from, it was becoming very clear that Germany was by far one of the most advanced countries in treating cancer in natural, integrative ways.
Even with all the text book confirmation I still needed the comfort of someone telling me to trust our next step. It was a call with an elderly lady by the name of Vera de Winter, a close friend of 'Ronnie Reagan' and leading authority in cancer treatments, that sealed the deal.
